The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) was created in 1971 by President Richard Nixon. OPIC's support helped U.S. businesses to invest in emerging markets, which created jobs and opportunities for economic growth. OPIC has since been replaced by the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) as of January 2020.
