What is National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA)?

The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) is a trade association that represents the interests of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other international trade professionals in the United States. The NCBFAA was founded in 1897, and it has over 970 member companies.

The NCBFAA's objective is to “promote the highest standards of professional excellence in the international trade community.” The association provides several services to its members, including:

  • Advocacy: Working on behalf of its members with government agencies, like the CBP.
  • Education: Several educational programs and resources to its members.
  • Networking: It provides a forum for its members to network with each other and with other professionals in the international trade community.
  • Research: Access to insight on current issues affecting the international trade community.

Trade associations like these help unify customs brokers and trade practices. Between the large number of different trade laws and the politics affecting various trade agreements, brokers can use the NCBFAA resources to stay updated.
